Katherine Timmermans is a registered nurse who works in the Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSCN) program at Cambrian College. She was appointed to the position of fulltime professor at Cambrian College in 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSCN) from Laurentian University.
Katherine is an educator, researcher and clinician with expertise in the area of medical surgical nursing and cardiovascular health. She believes in excellence in nursing and strives to help students gain nursing experience through evidence-based practice. She has published works related to student safety and student engagement using gamification. She has an avid interest in advancing learning technology with some expertise in delivering in-person low to mid-level simulation for notice students. She has helped develop basic H5P simulations and integrated online virtual simulations undergraduate nursing courses (i.e., health assessment, mental health, and medical surgical courses. Most recently her research interest has focused on exploring the use of virtual simulations to teach mental health concepts.
