Executive Director, M Simulation, University of Minnesota
Lou Clark (she/her) is the Executive Director of M Simulation with the Office of Academic Clinical Affairs and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota (UMN). As M Simulation Executive Director, she provides oversight and guidance for the design and implementation of 40,000 annual learner contact hours of healthcare simulation education in the Twin Cities and across system campuses at UMN. A portion of this work is conducted with SPs remotely by the Human Simulation Online Program that she innovated in the pandemic which continues to serve UMN and external partners. Her educational design work focuses on creating simulation curriculum for advanced communication skill development including to support healthcare trainees in advocating and partnering with LGBTQIA2s+ patients and their loved ones. Dr. Clark also co-edited and co-authored the book Implementing Best Practices in Standardized Patient Methodology and is the current President-Elect of the Association of Standardized Patient Educators. She holds a doctorate in Human Communication with emphases in Health and Organizational Communication from the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from the University of New Mexico.
