Dr. Winston graduated from the University of North Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004. She later graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. She is an Associate Professor teaching nursing at UNA. Dr. Winston is also the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions at UNA. In that role she works with faculty, staff, and students in the college of nursing and across campus to promote diversity, provide understanding, and facilitate belonging.
Dr. Winston is a servant leader in the community. She is the coordinator for the UNA Children’s Respite Program. The respite program serves local children with special needs, and their siblings. Dr. Winston is also on the Florence City Schools Board of Education. There she supports local teachers, students and administrators. Dr. Winston is passionate about supporting her community and helping students reach their potential.
