Elicia Egozcue-Ochoa is currently a Doctoral Student with Grand Canyon University with a focus on educational leadership. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing in 2015 from the University of Cincinnati and is certified in Neuroscience, Stroke, Cardiac-Vascular Nursing, Nursing Professional Development, and as an Advanced Practice Nurse. She is a Clinical Learning Educator II with Baptist Health in South Florida and her passion is advocating for patients by improving outcomes through evidenced based practice and research.
Elicia serves as a simulation facilitator and subject matter expert for neurology, cardiac, and critical care medicine. One of the pertinent simulations she supports for the system is titled “Clinical Deterioration” which serves to develop assessment skills related to clinical deterioration in order to speedily activate a rapid response team.
Her research was created to empower nurses to activate rapid response teams through the use of in situ simulation and scripting. This study has been presented for Quality & Safety Education for Nurses in Colorado, for the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses in San Antonio, American Nurses' Credentialing Center's Magnet Conferencce in Philadelhia, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurse's National Teaching Institute in Philadelphia.
