Dr. Sharon Decker is the Associate Dean for Simulation, Professor in the School of Nursing, Executive Director for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Simulation Program, a TTUHSC Grover E. Murray Professor, and the Covenant Health System Endowed Chair in Simulation and Nursing Education.
Dr. Decker has been the recipient of the Texas Tech’s Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching Award and several TTUHSC President’s awards for Academic Achievement. Dr. Decker is a fellow in the Academy of Nursing Education, American Academy of Nursing, and an inaugural member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare Academy. Dr. Decker is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and a member if the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards Committee.
Dr. Decker's scholarship is related to using the pedagogy of simulation to promote clinical reasoning and reflective thinking. Dr. Decker has presented at conferences and provided consultation internationally, and the recipient of numerous grants to support her research. Dr. Decker received her bachelor’s degree (BSN) from Baylor University, her master’s (MSN) from the University of Texas at Arlington, and her doctorate (PhD) from Texas Woman’s University.
