Ron has been fully immersed in clinical simulation since 2011. Over a twenty-two-year healthcare career, Ron has gained extensive technical knowledge and considerable medical experience. Through his understanding of adult learning theories and various simulation modalities, Ron has assisted in the education of Attending Physicians, Residents, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, and Medical Students alike. Ron completed the Clinical Simulation Certificate Program at the University of Southern Indiana in 2012. In January 2015, he obtained his certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). He was one of the first twenty-one around the globe to get this specialized certification. Ron also completed training as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) from Oakland Community College in December 2015. Ron also serves as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher and is a member of the Special Pathogens Response Team. Ron earned his Master's Degree from the University of Michigan-Flint, graduating with his Master of Arts in Applied Communication (MA) degree in the summer of 2020. In March of 2021, Ron earned higher recognition for his commitment and dedication to healthcare simulation by becoming certified as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist-Advanced (CHSOS-A) from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. He, again, was one of the first twenty-five around the globe to get this advanced certification designation. Most recently, Ron has gone even further, earning his certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) from SSH in March 2022. Today, Ron serves as the Simulation Specialist/Coordinator – Instructional Learning Lead for the School of Nursing at the University of Michigan-Flint. There Ron employs his passion for simulation to improve overall healthcare and patient safety through consistent, high-quality, high-fidelity structured simulations.
