Shoshana is an educator, advocate and social innovator concerned with advancing the wellness of populations at risk with a special focus on mental health and geriatric care. She is passionate about advancing this goal by facilitating individual, team and organizational performance excellence in healthcare through education and research inquiry. She currently works as an Interprofessional Educator in the Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation at Baycrest designing curriculum and educational methodologies geared toward building capacity in long-term care staff across the Province of Ontario. Recent work focuses on collaboration, compassion and well-being using mindfulness, simulation and Appreciative Inquiry for knowledge mobilization and sustainable practice change on interprofessional teams.
Shoshana`s career spans over 20 years in community, hospital and long-term care settings as a geriatric social worker and psychotherapist, gerontologist, clinical simulationist, instructional designer and eLearning strategist. Presently, she is pursuing scholarship in relational research at the doctoral level to articulate the role of relational education, practice and evaluation methodology on quality improvement in healthcare. Her professional designations include social worker, psychotherapist, gerontologist, clinical simulationist, applied mindfulness meditation practitioner and caring clown. She also has expertise and leadership experience as an instructional designer, interprofessional / team educator, marketing copywriter / editor, administrator / coordinator and musician. Shoshana also volunteers as an advocate for social care for persons living with dementia; both academically, and as a volunteer Caring Clown.
