Alaina Herrington is currently the Director of the Judith Gore Gearhart Clinical Skills Center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine and an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing. Prior to this role she was the founding director of the Mississippi Academy for Simulation Training where she created a free statewide, online simulation education training for nursing faculty. Alaina was also formally the Simulation Center Director at Hinds Community College. During her time there, Alaina coordinated the opening of a state-of-the-art simulation center in 2014 and lead the center to become the first accredited simulation center in the state by the Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) in Teaching and Learning in 2017. Alaina was selected as a National League for Nursing (NLN) 2015 Simulation Leader. She is a contributing author for the NLN Center for Innovation in Simulation & Technology Blog. She is a Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Accreditation Site Reviewer and a Certified Healthcare in Simulation Educator, Advanced (CHSE-A), CHSE reviewer and test item writer. She is currently an International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Nominations Committee member, the Vice Chair of SSH’s Director’s SIG, and a member of the CHSE-A subcommittee.
