Meghan Parson, MPH, BSN, RN is a public health professional and registered nurse who graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in 2013. She currently serves as project manager for the federally funded Empowering and Transforming public Health nursing education and practice for Rural underserved areas to Improve care using Virtual-based simulation and Experiential learning (e-THRIVE) project supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under 1 U4EHP42431‐01‐00 and Nurse Education Practice Quality Retention Simulation Education Training grant. Through a community-academic partnership with Remote Area Medical (RAM®), she coordinates collaboration among an inter-professional team of experts in community/public health, simulation, technology, and systems engineering to use innovative simulation-based modalities and technology to increase the capacity of RN to BSN students and the RAM® RN workforce to work collaboratively across disciplines to improve population health outcomes in Appalachia. She also continues to work bedside as a board-certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse. Her areas of interest include improving access to quality care through innovation and interprofessional collaboration, community-driven education development, community-based participatory research, improving end-of-life care access and education, and recruitment and retention of public health nurses through meaningful experiential learning.
