Senior Lecturer Patient Safety and Simulation

Amanda (Mandy) Wilford is currently a Senior Lecturer in Patient Safety and Simulation located in The School of Health, Science and Wellbeing (HSW) at Staffordshire University. Mandy led the project that enabled HSW to be the first in Europe to be endorsed by INACSL for their simulation teaching and learning . Mandy has designed and is the Course Lead for a a new MSc in Simulation- Based Education that starts in September 2023, this is an innovative online MSc that focuses on all aspects of simulation education e.g., aviation, health, for quality improvement and safety.
Mandy has worked in patient safety and healthcare simulation in NHS, commercial and academic settings for twenty years all over the world. As a Registered Nurse her specialism is cardiac nursing. Mandy is currently a part – time post graduate research student undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Education at The Open University. Her research is centred around healthcare simulations and how learning is supported from the learner and facilitator’s perspective. Mandy volunteers for SESAM and INACSL. She contributed to the INACSL 2021 Update of the Professional Integrity Standard and is faculty for their ISEP programme.
