Alette H. Svellingen, associated professor at VID Specialized University, Faculty of Health Sciences, is a trained nurse and teacher. Her area of research interest has been pedagogical research, simulation-based education and patient safety. Throughout the bachelor program in nursing, Svellingen provide her competence in facilitating students learning and provides supervision for students in clinical practice. Alette H. Svellingen has published in several peer-reviewed journals including Clinical Simulation. Her doctoral thesis examines simulation-based education, the effect of multiple simulation sessions on nursing students’ competence. The article-based thesis consists of three independent research articles and a synopsis. The synopsis includes a discussion of research on nursing competence and the use of simulation-based education in nursing education
