Dr. Charlotte Elise Thompson is an associate professor in nursing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) and she is currently the RN-BSN Program Coordinator and teaches in the RN to BSN undergraduate program. Dr. Thompson has a PhD in Nursing and a master’s in nursing education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) and completed her undergraduate at the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC). She has a clinical background in Emergency Nursing and has taught nursing in the university setting for 16 years incorporating simulation for face to face and online nursing students. Dr. Thompson has a research interest in technology and nursing education including simulation and online learning to compare various educational techniques to evaluate student outcomes and performance in the field of nursing. She has completed research in simulation and anxiety, mobile simulation, social media in online nursing education, virtual simulation, and escape rooms to evaluate student outcomes in nursing education. She has presented at local, regional, and international conferences on technology, simulation, and nursing education topics.
